an artist and educator, I have been an Artist in Residence in after school programs at Stetson, CAPA Kensington High, Taggert, Fairhill Elementary, Juvenile Detention Center, which was awarded the Picasso Grant, and Benjamin Franklin High, among others.
My teaching practice is adaptive to the environments that I work in. I teach at the level that connects me with the students. I listen to them, always! In my class, creative art making becomes a sacred safe space, a place where soul searching begins and what is shared there, remains there. Art is created to express who we are as an individual leading toward a better sense of self. One of my learning outcomes is for the students to find their ‘true selves’ in the journey we call life.
